Animal Rights Activists stop production of sweets

I came across this interersting article about a sweets manufacturer who stopped making a sweet because of the views of activists who criticised their product.

I know is it old news (Feb 2005) but I thought it was interesting.

In 1953 kids across the country were heading straight for the nearest sweet shop as the first unrationed sweets went on sale today in 1953. Best sellers were toffee apples, nougat and liquorice.

Adults were also keen to purchase sweets and during their lunch breaks they queued to buy boiled sweets and to boxes of chocolates to take home for the weekend.

NOTE: The price of confectionery nearly doubled during the war, and many people hadn't taken up their their full 6oz ration.

How much do kids spend on sweets?

I found this interesting article detailing how much money kids spend buying sweets. I can't believe the amount is so high!

Notice the amount of money girls spend on clothes and their mobile phones compared to boys. Very interesting but probably not a surprise!
